The project partners have to screen the market on their own before starting the procurement process for any new equipment. The jointly carried out, EU-wide market study will create important synergies between the waterway administrations and will cover all kinds of hydrological equipment typically used by them.
Technical specifications will be aligned as far as possible, procurement documents will be prepared by the national experts themselves but in close coordination with each other.
Joint tenders are envisaged in order to receive the most favorable offers. The needs for improved and coordinated hydrological services, offering sound evidence for management decisions, consist of:
- state-of-the-art equipment for data gathering (surveying vessels, gauging stations)
- state-of-the-art systems for data processing and analysis (waterway asset management system, water level prognosis) and
- state-of-the-art equipment to dynamically respond to the actual situation and inform waterway users (multifunctional marking equipment).
The proposed procurements are necessary for the execution of the FAIRway Danube pilot operations.
