Procurement of equipment

Procurement Equip FAIRway

The procurement process for new equipment has been successfully tackled by the project partners in close cooperation with each other. The new equipment aids to improve hydrological services and the basis for sound decision management while creating important synergies between the waterway administrations. The procurement activities include:

1) Deployment of state-of-the-art equipment for data gathering (surveying vessels, gauging stations), such as:

    • 5 new surveying vessels with their multibeam equipment in Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania
    • 9 new/rehabilitated gauging stations (Croatia) and 8 on the Danube-Black Sea Canal (Romania)
    • The new portable single beam echosounder for the Danube-Black Sea Canal (Romania)

2) Acquisition of state-of-the-art systems for data processing and analysis (waterway asset management system, water level prognosis) and

3) Deployment of state-of-the-art equipment to dynamically respond to the actual situation and inform waterway users (multifunctional marking equipment), such as:

  • 4 new marking vessels in Slovakia, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria and 3 upgraded marking vessels in Hungary

The successful procurement of the new equipment marks the start of the FAIRway Danube pilot operations.
