On 17-th of August 2018 the newest vessel for marking the Danube waterway in the Bulgarian stretch of the river arrived in Ruse (Bulgaria). It is owned by the Executive Agency “Exploration and maintenance of the Danube River”.
The specialized vessel (constructed by the Varna Shipyard “MTG Dolphin”) is delivered within the FAIRway Danube project, financed under the Connecting Europe Facility.
It is forthcoming to being registered under the name “Osam”. The Agency`s tradition is to give the vessel`s names to the Bulgarian tributaries of the Danube River. Thus, the newly delivered vessel will be named after the river “Osam”, adjacent to the “Vit” River (which gave the name to the other EAEMDR`s marking vessel).
In the beginning of this year, a small hydrographic vessel was also delivered from the Bulgarian side within the FAIRway Danube project. It performs regular measurements to gather information about the changes occurring in the critical sections.
The collected high quality data will be used to make management decisions related to river engineering, rehabilitation and maintenance of the waterway.
