The Bulgarian waterway administration EAEMDR held a baptism ceremony of the marking vessel “Osam” on 02 October 2018 in presence of stakeholders from government institutions and private sector. The vessel is delivered under the FAIRway Danube project, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
Godmother of the vessel became Ms. Galina Vassileva from the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and supervisory body of CEF.
This year two new FAIRway Danube vessels were delivered in Bulgaria, funded under the Connecting Europe Facility. The hydrographic vessel helps with the exploration of the river, and the marking vessel “Osam” provides seamless navigation in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section, preventing from stranding in shallow sections.
Executive Director of EAEMDR Eng. Pavlin Tsonev stressed that with the realization of projects under the Connecting Europe Facility, the Bulgarian Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” and the Danube Transnational Programme for a total value of nearly 18 million euro, the Agency significantly increased its technical capacity. Thus, the Agency significantly improves the implementation of its international obligations related to the maintenance of the Danube river.
